The Work
The Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF) is the leading membership, education, training and professional development organisation for the insurance and finance industry in the Asia-Pacific region.
To provide value to their Corporate Supporters, ANZIIF undertakes an annual project to provide insight into issues impacting professionals in the insurance and finance sector. Leveraging a membership base across Australia, New Zealand, Greater China and Southeast Asia, ANZIIF insights span the entire sector and offer a wider view than their Corporate Supporters could otherwise achieve.
Our Approach
Survey Matters has been working with ANZIIF to deliver their Corporate Supporter Research program for the last eight years. Co-creating ideas for insights relevant to the sector each year, our approach involves research with the full ANZIIF membership base, as well as other professionals in the industry that ANZIIF has access to through their role as a provider of industry education. Often, we also conduct interviews with key industry stakeholders to ensure that the research is both comprehensive and captures a broad spectrum of industry perspectives.
Over the course of the collaboration, the research has explored diverse topics such as lifelong learning, the aging workforce, the needs of young professionals in insurance, professional standards, learning in the new world and the motivations and expectations of insurance professionals.
The research program has also provided valuable information about the industry's changing needs, particularly through turbulent periods like the COVID-19 pandemic, frequent catastrophic floods and bushfires, and increasing economic uncertainty amid rising interest rates and inflationary pressures.
Each year, the results are presented as an invitation only webinar which, alongside the report, provides an exclusive benefit for ANZIIF Corporate Supporters.
Outcome
The insurance and finance industry, like many others, is dealing with increasing changes in the way people want to work, alongside considerable levels of regulatory change and technology improvement that necessitate continuous learning and workforce development. The industry also faces significant demands on its workforce due to the increasing frequency and severity of natural disasters.
ANZIIFs ongoing research program offers their Corporate Supporters’ critical insights into these changes, equipping them with the knowledge and strategies needed to navigate the industry's evolving landscape effectively. The intelligence from these annual projects empowers Corporate Supporters to adapt to new challenges, capitalise on emerging opportunities, and maintain a competitive edge in the insurance and finance labour market.
Through this partnership, Survey Matters and ANZIIF demonstrate the value associations can provide with sector wide, data-driven insights in fostering thought leadership, industry growth and development.
“ANZIIF has enjoyed a true partnership with Survey Matters on multiple projects since 2018.
During that time we have derived immense value from not only the outputs of the survey results but also in the relationship with the Survey Matters crew. The survey results have contributed to our strategy development, membership value and corporate supporter value – giving us guidance on validating what’s great and highlighting opportunities for not only ANZIIF but the insurance industry broadly. Of particular note have been the presentations of the results to our Corporate Supporters and at our Strategy day with our Board and Chairs of Councils – these presentations have been widely acknowledged as having been exceptional and have resulted in excellent outcomes, decisions and mutual reputational benefit.”
